You wanna know who styled their family this year? A! That’s right. This young lady, at 10 years of age, has fashion on the mind. She put herself in charge of getting everyone’s outfit for their holiday mini session. What do you think? She did good, right? Little sis, O, is as silly as ever. I remember the first year I photographed these guys, O was a little blur running around me. She’s growing up too. Sometimes the best time for photography just isn’t the best time for kids. Family commitments, naps, and early bed-times don’t always work with the ideal sunlight hours. Why not ideal? Well, the sun is too bright, often over-head, presenting nice, dark raccoon circles (and other crazy shadows)and squinty eyes… that are really only attractive to raccoons. So what do we do? Those are the days I love to meet with families at their home, and generally hang out indoors. If not at home, under a big wide over-hang, or a place with good, even of shade that gives us lots of room to play. G and family did just that. Oh, it’s been fun seeing Q grow. As he’s heading into his 2s in a few months, I knew our time where he’d be happy (and relatively patient) in front of my camera were numbered. Luckily, the playground at Laurelwood Park offered us a great distraction and an opportunity for Q to be himself. Seeing him climb to slide over and over, scale ropes and be generally fearless (with his parents and grandparents) is great for me, because photographing these moments of pure fun… pure Q is a big part of why enjoy doing this. Oh, this was so much fun! This is now the 3rd session I’ve done w/ these guys, and it’s been incredible seeing N grow and “mature” over the years. She came prepared, eager to snuggle and have a good time. So here I have a gorgeous mamma, an adorable little kiddo, three people with a great sense of humor, and some amazing sunlight. That’s pretty much as perfect combination as one could get. This is my last share from April’s pre-Mother’s Day mini sessions at San Mateo’s Borel Park. I am so loving this space, and hope that it will be just as beautiful come fall.
