The Bay Area is such a remarkable place. It is so incredibly versatile, and so incredibly beautiful. On my hikes around the Peninsula, I discover so many spots that would be great for photography sessions. But, the fact that they are, sometimes, a good mile from a parking spot makes me realize they’re not always practical for family pictures. Especially for families with younger kids. One of the benefits to being on this side of the camera when it comes to newborn photography, is the ability to witness all the different kinds of family rituals that parents fall into. For me, with my family, it was bath-time. There was a song order as we scrubbed head to toe, and even though it was never a big production it was a ritual that was meaningful and memorable. D and S have their own ritual around A’s wake-ups from her nap, and it was a pleasure to be able to witness (and document) that.
