Note: I have since updated (a little bit), my USB mailers. See my new USB packaging here.
If you’ve been following me on Facebook (and if not, you really should!), or been stalking my blog you may have noticed some hints toward me moving to new delivery media from CDs. A handful of people have noted issues with reading my DVDs, but more frequently I hear “Uhmn… my computer doesn’t have a CD drive. What do I do with this thing?” So as I look toward the future of computer manufacturing, where now not only Macs, but also PCs are doing away with CD drives, it’s also time for me to move forward… onto USBs.
While, I’m really sad to move away from customized discs (and to be honest, I’ve really enjoyed doing these for you guys), I was fortunate to find an exceptional USB drive vendor that has some really kick-ass products. No, I’m not satisfied with just getting a handful of 2GB USB drives from Costco. I wanted something that reflects my brand: light, fun, practical & unique, so….. TA-DA…. check out these puppies. They’re paper clip drives, and are almost, literally, the size of a paper-clip.
I’m taking this opportunity to upgrade my packaging too.
All of my clients reaching out for a full session in 2013 will have this included in their session fee. If, however, for any reason you would prefer to get a CD instead, let me know. I’ll be happy to do that instead, and will give you a $5 discount.
Similarly, if you’ve had a session with me and had your images delivered on a USB drive, I would be happy to place your next session’s images on the same drive, and discount your session by $5.
Can I just say that coming up with a way to assemble all this is quite a bit harder than I thought it would be? I’d like to give a shout out to Amy Lucy Lockheart of Amy Lucy Photography and my SBSG ladies (you know who you are) who held my hand through this process. You guys rock!

These are great! I’ve been wanting to do this as well, but haven’t found a good company. I’d love to hear any tips you found out. Those look great! And your logo looks so sharp on it! =)
Melissa,
If you do a search on custom USB drives you will find SO many options. Many are from China, and the prices vary so much. I began looking at the Trix drives offered by FlashBay, because I saw a few photographers have them, and they looked really nice. But once I started looking at the catalog of FlashBay, I realized there were alternatives I liked so much better, and I wanted to something that was more “me” and more unique. I really fell in love with the clip drives. I searched online for a few other vendors, but after receiving the samples, FlashBay won out. That and their customer service has been hands down awesome.
The logo really IS so crisp and clear. My husband got the package and I asked him to immediately open it, and the first words out of his mouth were about how legible and well done they were. I’m very happy.
I will actually be revising the boxing for my packaging, and once some new materials arrive this week, I’ll re-take that second image.
