If you have followed me for the past three years, you know that pediatric cancer rocked my good friend, Libby’s world (and mine by extension) in a devastating way by taking her beautiful six-year old daughter within three months after she was diagnosed with DIPG: a terminal brain tumor. Libby and her family are slowly learning to live each day and each experience without their oldest. Yet amidst it all, she found a way through her pain to try push through, and do her darnest, to do everything she can so that our living children are not touched by cancer. Unravel Pediatric Cancer is the manifestation of that effort, and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer[…]See more from “Unravel Mamas Night Out: San Jose”

In Asia, through traditional folklore, people believe that the crane is the bringer of luck. That symbolism brought on the belief that anyone with the dedication and patience to fold 1000 paper cranes will be granted their biggest wish. The story “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes” really struck a chord with me. Sadako had a single wish: to live. She developed leukemia, after being exposed to radiation from the Hiroshima bomb when she was two; and her wish was to live. She began folding her 1000 paper cranes. Sadako and I share a wish. I wish that no parent should hear the words “Your child has cancer…. and there is no cure.” My friends Libby and Tony are living[…]See more from “1000 Dragonflies: A pediatric cancer fundraiser”

I’ve marveled at the outpouring support that Jennifer (JLK) has received over the past two months (and hope it will never stop). Even you, dear friends, helped, whether knowingly (or otherwise) by ordering your holiday cards through my TinyPrints storefront to fundraise for this little girl’s medical needs. One of the most marvelous gifts I’ve seen yet, has been from Jennifer’s godmother, nicknamed Fairy. You see, Fairy had her own special wedding day planned for this upcoming April. Sadly, given Jennifer’s prognosis, attending an April event may have been difficult, at best.[…]See more from “Bay Area Child Photographer: HER wedding”

Jennifer (JLK) is six years old. She has a laugh that makes you giggle, tantrums on par for her age, a maternal instinct that puts mine to shame… and cancer. On her sixth birthday Jennifer was diagnosed with a rare, very aggressive, but incurable form of pediatric brain tumor, known as DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). Libby is her mama. She is funny, stubborn and has mad mommy skills that also put mine shame 🙂 Libby is also my friend. You’ve seen Libby and Jennifer over the years in my photographs. I’ve been thrilled to document Libby’s growing bellies and babies welcomed into their home. It means a ton to me that she trusts me enough to ask me to[…]See more from “Palo Alto, CA Photographer: Show the love”
