I drive by the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Cross in Belmont almost every week-day on my way to drop off your youngest at his pre-school. It’s an incredible building on the outside. The doors alone are remarkable, and I’ve had fantasies of being able to photograph in this space for such a long time. My family goes to the Greek Festival held by their community every year: (frankly it’s one of the few chances I have to get a taste of the sweets I grew up with this side of the Atlantic). But I had never before been inside. Earlier in the week I received a call asking if I would be available to photograph a Belmont Baptism.[…]See more from “Belmont Baptism Photographer: Telling stories”

If you have followed me for the past three years, you know that pediatric cancer rocked my good friend, Libby’s world (and mine by extension) in a devastating way by taking her beautiful six-year old daughter within three months after she was diagnosed with DIPG: a terminal brain tumor. Libby and her family are slowly learning to live each day and each experience without their oldest. Yet amidst it all, she found a way through her pain to try push through, and do her darnest, to do everything she can so that our living children are not touched by cancer. Unravel Pediatric Cancer is the manifestation of that effort, and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer[…]See more from “Unravel Mamas Night Out: San Jose”

Jennifer (JLK) is six years old. She has a laugh that makes you giggle, tantrums on par for her age, a maternal instinct that puts mine to shame… and cancer. On her sixth birthday Jennifer was diagnosed with a rare, very aggressive, but incurable form of pediatric brain tumor, known as DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). Libby is her mama. She is funny, stubborn and has mad mommy skills that also put mine shame 🙂 Libby is also my friend. You’ve seen Libby and Jennifer over the years in my photographs. I’ve been thrilled to document Libby’s growing bellies and babies welcomed into their home. It means a ton to me that she trusts me enough to ask me to[…]See more from “Palo Alto, CA Photographer: Show the love”

My friend A is an incredibly strong woman. Each hour I spend with her, I’m reminded of the many aspects of her personality that make her the complex and amazing person that she is. I admire her journey of self discovery, and through her I get to learn a little bit more about me. Anchors have a special meaning to A. She’d been talking about getting an anchor tattoo for awhile. I told her that should she ever do it, I wanted to come with her and photograph her experience. So imagine my excitement when she told me she made her appointment. I won’t lie, watching A have her tattoo done, makes me feel ready to finish mine. Who knows…[…]See more from “Bay Area, CA Photographer: Tattoo”

A few weeks ago, I had the awesome opportunity to document the birth of my best friend’s son. It was the first birth I’ve really witnessed. You might be scratching your head, wondering, “But you have a kid, right?”. The answer is “Yes!”, but you see, I slept through his birth. After over 10 hours of intense labor and some pesky cord-wrap shenanigans, I was ushered into an emergency c-section where the numbing power of drugs was quite nap inducing. So, A’s labor was a big treat for me. I felt like I could live through her. And she did amazing!!! While she swears she screamed the whole time and scared other laboring people down the hall, I’m here to[…]See more from “Redwood City, CA Birth Photographer: Welcome to this world”
