Bay Area Family Portraits: Just being a kid

This family portraits session was part of my foggy mini session event in Sam Mateo last fall. Our Bay Area weather can be so unpredictable, but I love the different textures and colors that we get that way. It means that every session is a little different even if done at the same place, same time of day. My only request for the sun, though, is that it sets its mind and goes with it: all overcast or all sunny are fine with me. Even starting overcast and gradually transitioning to sunny (or vice versa) are good here. I’m just not a special fan of the peek-a-boo games the sun wants to play behind clouds: then my shutter controlling finger[…]See more from “Bay Area Family Portraits: Just being a kid”

San Mateo Family Portraits: Loveys forever

Our oldest son is now 6. His lovey “friends” still share his bed every night. He used to turn to them whenever he was upset; whenever he was tired. While he doesn’t need and ask for them the same way he used to, I love watching him arrange them each night. I know this time is fleeting, and maybe even a year from now they’ll be an after-thought to his bed-time routine. Little R is very much the same way. His Woof Woof has been by his side since the start, and much like my G and his friends, R and Woof Woof are still buds. Woof Woof for sure has had some adventures. When I saw him along with[…]See more from “San Mateo Family Portraits: Loveys forever”

I am now one family photo shoot away from wrapping up 2014. It’s been a remarkable year! I feel like I’ve grown a lot, learned a lot, and met some incredibly awesome families. These guys are one of them. I had so much fun with them the morning we met! We’re talking about a family of 3 (+ a furry one, as P said) with an incredibly light outlook on life — relaxed, easy going and with a great sense of humor. How can I possibly not enjoy working with them? And you know what else? P brought me a bottle of water! Small act of kindness, but when you have a morning of mini sessions, it was very welcomed.[…]See more from “San Mateo Portrait Photography: 3 + furry one”

Last month, if you’ll remember I had a last minute opening for a mini session in San Mateo. C sent me a note after her cousin, who had recently received her portraits from me told her about it. Thanx, C! I love getting to meet the extended families and friends of my clients. It’s, honestly, one of the biggest compliments I can get, and how I’ve grown my business. It’s also why every year I’m adding more and more mini session events on the calendar. C and T have two beautiful children: a bouncing baby boy, and a studious pre-teen. Seriously, this girl… I had to marvel. K came to our session and brought a book, because she loves reading[…]See more from “San Mateo, CA Mini Session Photographer: Books”

A couple of years back I photographed this family at the Redwood City City Hall. I developed an instant attachment to the images from that session and by now you’ve seen them on various portions of my site, social shares and marketing materials. It wasn’t just because I felt they were interesting to look at: it was because of how A and G felt so at ease with me, and how the love they outwardly showed to their little guy just resonated with me so much. I look back on that session as a model for the kind of photography I continuously want to deliver. Since our last meeting, A and G welcomed a baby girl to their family. She[…]See more from “San Mateo, CA Family & Child Photographer: Welcome back!”
