Bay Area Family Photographer: All grown up

Last year, A asked me if I’d be interested in photographing her family. They hadn’t had family portraits done in quite a while. You see: they’re all grown up, and the last time she remembered taking a family photo was in a studio 25 years ago! Why in the world would I ever say “No!”? I love working with adults: they make me work my creative brain harder, and if you haven’t stood for a photo with your mom for as long as that, it’s certainly time to make up for it. I had such a fun time with A and her family. Just because you’re not three anymore doesn’t mean that photos won’t be fun, or that you won’t[…]See more from “Bay Area Family Photographer: All grown up”

Palo Alto Family Photography: Flexibility

C and her family were my second to last family photography session of 2015. We met on a foggy Saturday morning (in December) after our winter rains had finally arrived. It was a super chilly day, highlighted by the wet frost on the ground. Since we met at a location new to me, I arrived early to scope things out. As I walked through the grass you could see the paths I was making because my feet were disturbing the frost — it was a really cool sight to be honest: dulled grass that was reclaimed some of its vibrancy in the places I moved through it. Straight up it was cold! And by the end of our session, little[…]See more from “Palo Alto Family Photography: Flexibility”

4 years ago I was among the first to photograph the lovely, brand-new baby C. Her mom discovered me while search through Yelp for a newborn photographer and the newborn session we had together produced a set of baby portraits I think back on to this day. Fast forward 4 years later to baby C now being a vibrant, fun, big kid…. AND (now) a big sister. Mom and dad reached out to me again late last year to let me know they were expecting again. So, I got to reprise me role in their home. I loved it! The timing of the whole thing was kismet too. I’m in the process of transitioning to a new way of tracking[…]See more from “Foster City Newborn Photographer: Re-connecting”

My life is pretty enriched simply by knowing this woman. She’s smart, she’s funny, and she’s ridiculously selfless. Fifteen years ago we met at work, and I’m a better person for having her in my life. In turn, I’d like to think her walls are happier for having ME in her life… because I get to fill them with family photos of her adorable monkeys. We had our mini session in San Mateo, and I’m really glad I got a second chance at this location. Oh, I love the light here. I love it’s surprise of beauty in a really unexpected corner. I love the woods right behind, and am kind of eager to do something with them in the[…]See more from “San Mateo Mini Session Photographer: Lucky”

Menlo Park Family Photography: We gotta run for it

M, A and their girls were the last session of the day for my mini Menlo Park family photography sessions last fall. I had it all worked out in my head, and I had the perfect silhouette image in my head that I wanted to capture with them. We started off at the base of the hill photographing for the gorgeous back-lit scenery, taking some adorable portraits for big sister R and little E. I loved even how the sun lowered behind the bush so it poked out just perfectly some some shots of mom and dad. I worked as quickly as I could, keeping a really close eye on the sun the whole time. I really wanted to grab[…]See more from “Menlo Park Family Photography: We gotta run for it”
