Palo Alto Family Photography: Flexibility
C and her family were my second to last family photography session of 2015. We met on a foggy Saturday morning (in December) after our winter rains had finally arrived. It was a super chilly day, highlighted by the wet frost on the ground. Since we met at a location new to me, I arrived early to scope things out. As I walked through the grass you could see the paths I was making because my feet were disturbing the frost — it was a really cool sight to be honest: dulled grass that was reclaimed some of its vibrancy in the places I moved through it. Straight up it was cold! And by the end of our session, little[…]See more from “Palo Alto Family Photography: Flexibility”
Palo Alto Family Photographer: B.C. and A.C
I think of my life as BC and AC. You know… “before children” and “after children”. Everything since our oldest son was born has come on with new considerations, and of course a new outlook on things. This is pretty obvious with the families I photograph too. There are the romantic shots I take of two partners together, as they embrace and live in their own world… and then there’s the romantic shots I take once children enter the picture. Palo Alto Mini Session Photographer: Back-up plan
Planning for mini sessions this year has been interesting. Each mid-summer, when I sit down to figure out the session schedule plan I take into account: holidays, family/friend birthdays, travel schedule, and weather. Booking in the fall is always a risk. Yes, we’ve had quite a bit of a drought spell, which from a photographer perspective has been great, but with El Nino on the way, I’ve been careful not too over-book, and make sure I leave just enough room to accommodate a mini session re-schedule in case of rain. Sure, I have a covered back-up, but I consider that my 2nd back-up plan. You know the shift puzzle games, where you have one square open and use that to[…]See more from “Palo Alto Mini Session Photographer: Back-up plan”
Palo Alto Child Photographer: Before and After
It’s been a long time since I’ve visited Gamble Gardens! As a matter of fact, my last photography session there was just about exactly two years ago. In going back, it was interesting to see how Gamble Gardens has changed. Throughout the year, the blooming flowers, of course, change. I love the diversity the grounds offer in the span of a few months. Yet, time of year aside, as I did my regular walk around the location, I noticed that the willow trees at the back of the property had also gone away. It excites me to see Gamble evolve, but also a little nostalgic for all the families, scenes and memories we’ve captured in that space.
