I am now one family photo shoot away from wrapping up 2014. It’s been a remarkable year! I feel like I’ve grown a lot, learned a lot, and met some incredibly awesome families. These guys are one of them. I had so much fun with them the morning we met! We’re talking about a family of 3 (+ a furry one, as P said) with an incredibly light outlook on life — relaxed, easy going and with a great sense of humor. How can I possibly not enjoy working with them? And you know what else? P brought me a bottle of water! Small act of kindness, but when you have a morning of mini sessions, it was very welcomed.[…]See more from “San Mateo Portrait Photography: 3 + furry one”

San Mateo, CA Family Photographer: Change of pace

One of my favorite lifestyle sessions this year was with photographing this family. We had a great time, at their home. E was just a little shy of being 1, and a crawling machine we worked hard to keep on the bed. E is now a year and a half. We met for a mini session on the Bay Trails of San Mateo and a little change of pace. We’ve had a pretty dry year here in California, and I feel like our version of fall foliage is a ways off, if it even happens this year. In lieu of golden leaves, we get some golden grass fields. I don’t mind. That earthy look works perfectly. E was joined by[…]See more from “San Mateo, CA Family Photographer: Change of pace”

Mountain View, CA Child & Family Photographer: Riding dinosaurs

Do you remember all the crazy games you would imagine up as a kid? I envy little people. So few of us let our imaginations run wild as adults: we almost need training to allow ourselves to be that adventurous again. Our oldest son is a little too pragmatic: he’s never been into imaginative play. Our little one, though, on any given weekend he’s a superhero fighting bad guys. Do you remember the photographs I posted last September when I showed you my walking date with Spider Man? As a child photographer I get a little glimpse of how each one of the kids I document exercise their imagination too. Little Z rode a dinosaur at our last session. His[…]See more from “Mountain View, CA Child & Family Photographer: Riding dinosaurs”

I’ve known these guys for so many years, and this has been my very first photographing them. Jo likes to joke by saying that they’re a family of Chandlers (Friends reference here), but I disagree — they did great. I regret we didn’t have enough time to get some portraits of them in their Giants gear. They are huge fans. HUGE! Next time, guys. Ok? I got to practice my meows with Chloe. I don’t know too many tricks on photographing dogs, but asking them to look for the kitty seams to work most of the time. I was a little worried that Chloe would run off chasing after the ground squirrels all over Cuesta Park, but she did great![…]See more from “Mountain View, CA Mini Session Photographer: Chandlers?!? I won’t lie: every once in awhile I get into a creative rut, and it takes a fun session to get me out of it. My maternity session with A and C was exactly what I needed and I left that afternoon feeling happy and energized and excited. I couldn’t wait to get these on my computer and start working on them. A and C are expecting their little guy this holiday season. He’ll be their December baby and will join 4 year old Lambchop, who is playful pup with a penchant for squirrels. I can’t wait to meet him! We did our session in downtown San Mateo. It’s an interesting place to work given the foot traffic, narrow side-walks[…]See more from “The smell of Rosemary: San Mateo Maternity Photographer”
