Belmont Baby Photos: The best time

Newborn photos are great! I love photographing a fresh infant in their first few weeks of life. There’s all the new-found love from parents, and the marvel at how tiny this new person is. But you know what’s even more fun? Baby photos!!! Yep — I’m talking 6-9 months of pure baby giggles. It’s when Mom & Dad gets their feet back from under them; those sleeplessness nights have either improved, or parents have resolved to the reality and now time is just fun. Babies are smiling (for more reasons than gas!), vocalizing, blowing raspberry ‘cuz it’s awesome, sitting up and playing with their feet. How is this not awesome? It’s also I would never turn away a session in[…]See more from “Belmont Baby Photos: The best time”

Bay Area Newborn Photographer: Baby O

You don’t have to scroll very far to see the maternity session for this little guy. Little O arrived a few weeks early, and he was celebrating his one month birthday on the day of our session. One of the best things about lifestyle newborn sessions (I think) is the flexibility it affords my families. I do newborn sessions any time in the first month of life. While babies aren’t quite the newbies at that age, I like not having to stress out my mom clients with having to accommodate a photographer amidst learning the ways of their new baby. In the scariest of cases I’ve had clients need surgery after delivery, and even in the best of cases the[…]See more from “Bay Area Newborn Photographer: Baby O”

Foster City Newborn Photographer: Re-connecting

4 years ago I was among the first to photograph the lovely, brand-new baby C. Her mom discovered me while search through Yelp for a newborn photographer and the newborn session we had together produced a set of baby portraits I think back on to this day. Fast forward 4 years later to baby C now being a vibrant, fun, big kid…. AND (now) a big sister. Mom and dad reached out to me again late last year to let me know they were expecting again. So, I got to reprise me role in their home. I loved it! The timing of the whole thing was kismet too. I’m in the process of transitioning to a new way of tracking[…]See more from “Foster City Newborn Photographer: Re-connecting”

San Carlos Baby Photos: A baby break

Amongst the midst of fall mini sessions I break for newborn baby photos. When R emailed me in the summer to let me know they were expecting, I was really excited for them. New babies just make me happy: so much love, and promise come with that little package. They’re light (remember I’m living with a five and a seven year old these days, and give piggy back rides more frequently than I care to admit, so a newborn in comparison is a feather-weight), and have tiny little squeaks of a cry. It’s cute! I know that too a newborn mom those cries feel piercing, but to me, being so far removed, they’re cute. Makes me nostalgic. Not so much[…]See more from “San Carlos Baby Photos: A baby break”

Los Altos Family Photographer: A gift for dad

I may have said it before, but I find the photography community to be remarkably supportive. I participate in a couple of online forums where we exchange ideas, learn from one another and generally help each other grow. I’m joined by professional and hobbyist photographers from across the Bay Area and the world at large. You’d think competition would be a factor (at least at the local level), but instead of tearing each other down, I am thrilled to see our groups stand each other up! One way we help each other out is filling in for one another when a prospective client asks for a portrait session and we’re not able to do it. Maybe you’ve experienced this looking[…]See more from “Los Altos Family Photographer: A gift for dad”
