Bay Area Newborn Photography: A new life

Little E has been one very awaited little man. He took his sweet time to make his appearance, to a point I was proposing rescheduling his newborn photography photo shoot. I usually schedule my newborn sessions at least a few weeks past a due date, but he had us going all the way to the wire. S had gotten to a point where her identity had become “the pregnant lady”. Eh — worthy title for the mama of such a cute nugget. And he really IS adorable. S, M and (now) E live in Portola Valley. For those of you not quite familiar with the Bay Area — it neighbors Palo Alto on the Peninsula. I’ve never ventured on that[…]See more from “Bay Area Newborn Photography: A new life”

Belmont Newborn Photographer: Worth the wait

Drew is the talent behind Andrew Sherman Photography, based out of Belmont (just like me). He and I met at a photography class a few years back and stayed in touch, forming a small critique group and working on a few playful projects together. If you ran into a couple of “kids” playing with their off-camera flash setup in the underpass of the San Carlos train tracks: that was probably us. Drew and his lovely wife, D had been expecting this little man for quite awhile. Drew mentioned to me some time ago that he would like for me to photograph his son’s newborn session, and I had been waiting patiently since to make it a reality. It was worth[…]See more from “Belmont Newborn Photographer: Worth the wait”

Millbrae Newborn Photography: Rituals

One of the benefits to being on this side of the camera when it comes to newborn photography, is the ability to witness all the different kinds of family rituals that parents fall into. For me, with my family, it was bath-time. There was a song order as we scrubbed head to toe, and even though it was never a big production it was a ritual that was meaningful and memorable. D and S have their own ritual around A’s wake-ups from her nap, and it was a pleasure to be able to witness (and document) that. It’s honestly these moments that I love to do what I do — these rituals change over time as babies grow. Some even[…]See more from “Millbrae Newborn Photography: Rituals”

Babies! The first half of my year is always about photographing and welcoming little ones into our world. I quite like it to be honest. It gives me a sense of starting over. When little Q was born, I remember C calling me to say that they were surprised how cute he was and really wanted to capture that. Sadly, I wasn’t available to photograph him as a newborn, but we met every 3 months following until he turned two. It’s been great watching him grow, and meeting their family along the way. Well, today I got to meet one new family member (well, a couple if you count the kitties, too): Q’s baby sister, E. These guys come up[…]See more from “San Mateo, CA Newborn Photographer: A little girl”

San Jose, CA Newborn Photographer: How will your lifestyle change?

Beautiful Miss M had her babies. After all the anticipation, and the fake-outs these little dudes gave us, they lasted all the way until their due date. I am thrilled to have been part of their welcoming comitee! In the hospital, as the nurse was doing the intake questionaire, she asked “How do you think your lifestyle is going to change?” …. on a scale of 1-10. M and A already have H at home. And they were about to hold their twin boys. Twins on their own are a major adjustment, let alone with an active 2 yr old to boot. There was a heck of a lot of wry laughing on that question to be sure. One of[…]See more from “San Jose, CA Newborn Photographer: How will your lifestyle change?”
