Oh my! I can’t believe it’s been a full month since I did this family portraits session, and haven’t had a chance to post it. It’s been a little busy around here. My fall mini session schedule is being released, publicly, this week, and the past two weeks have been busy preparing. My previous clients, and mail list subscribers got a preview of that schedule, and sessions have been booking fast… and trust me — there’s a fair amount of time invested in getting everyone set up on the calendar. It’s going to be an exciting season, though, and I’m looking forward to all the “old” and new faces I get to meet with. I can’t wait! S has been[…]See more from “Belmont Family Portraits: Where’d the sun go?”

Belmont Family Photographer: Extended Family

Right before I left on my anniversary trip (more on this soon, I promise!), I met with L and her guys for an extended family photography session. I’m always curious how people hear about me and my photography work. It’s usually one of the first thing I ask when a new client reaches out. In L’s case, though, I knew… our youngest, and their oldest shared years together in the same preschool. Even though our little guy doesn’t go there anymore, he still talks about his buddy all the time. He considers him his best friend and “writes” him cards. As a matter of fact, the morning of our session, before I pulled out my camera to get started, I[…]See more from “Belmont Family Photographer: Extended Family”

SEO for photographers: “A Photographer’s Guide To SEO” book

Over the past few years I’ve been doing a lot of reading and research on SEO (search engine optimization). As a professional photographer and service provider, I welcome new clients. The families I have worked with, thus far, have come to me through referrals, through Yelp, and some come because they find me online. Being found in online searches is simply a necessity for businesses. However, as I and many other discovered it is not as easy as creating a website and setting it free in the world. So I’ve been reading, and experimenting. For awhile now I’ve also been part of a number of photographer groups. While we provide the same service, I’ve found the photographer community to be[…]See more from “SEO for photographers: “A Photographer’s Guide To SEO” book”

Belmont Newborn Photographer: Worth the wait

Drew is the talent behind Andrew Sherman Photography, based out of Belmont (just like me). He and I met at a photography class a few years back and stayed in touch, forming a small critique group and working on a few playful projects together. If you ran into a couple of “kids” playing with their off-camera flash setup in the underpass of the San Carlos train tracks: that was probably us. Drew and his lovely wife, D had been expecting this little man for quite awhile. Drew mentioned to me some time ago that he would like for me to photograph his son’s newborn session, and I had been waiting patiently since to make it a reality. It was worth[…]See more from “Belmont Newborn Photographer: Worth the wait”

Belmont Photography: Ooops!

Kids come in all sizes and attitudes: it’s part of what makes family photography fun and it’s what gives each session a unique feel. This little man keeps blowing my mind though — it’s not the first time he’s appeared in front of my lens, and each time he comes with an incredibly sweet attitude, ready to get down for my camera… down to the cheesy grins. I don’t know what P and J do to 1) have such an awesome kid; 2) get him ready for our sessions, because whatever it is: I want some of that for MY family. A day before we met, I had to call J on the phone and ask him to move up[…]See more from “Belmont Photography: Ooops!”
