I really get a kick when a get to photograph family at a location they have a connection to. In this case, it just so happens that this mini session shoot took place where J works. It wasn’t why I had picked it, but it just worked out that way. As much as I hate to make someone come to work on a week-end, I think in this case it was for a good reason, and I hope he didn’t mind waking up early… again… on a week-end 😉 I met J and J through mutual friends, who I have been photographing for the past 5 years. My business has grown so much through my past client referrals. I thank[…]See more from “Belmont Mini Session Photographer: Back at school”

Do you ever look at photos of yourself as a child, or maybe your own kids as babies and marvel at how many of the (current) features in the mirror were present even then? I was looking through my family portrait photos with these guys the other day. Yes, photographers get nostalgic too!, and came across a session I did with them when little M was about six months old. See, I see her face from back then and totally see the her of today in it. Don’t you? Sure, her hair is lighter, and those baby cheeks have melted, but it’s all there. E feels like she just keeps getting taller too… well, and has been bribing the tooth[…]See more from “Belmont Family Portrait: I can totally see it!”

I vividly remember the holiday photo session I had for my family when our oldest was 4 and youngest was 2. The 4 year old? Not so much into photos. A family portrait of everyone looking at the camera? Not that year! The closest we got to having all 4 of us in the frame was when my husband and I doled out Oreo cookies and we had two mini sharks going for the cream filled, round cookie goodness. The two kids together in a shot alone? Didn’t happen. Still, it was a great session, and I love every photo. Why am I bringing this up? Because as a mom on the other side of the camera, I totally get[…]See more from “Belmont Mini Session Photographer: Go with the fire hydrant”

A few years back I was incredibly fortunate to photograph this family. To this day, that family’s portrait session is one of my favorites. I was a young photographer, with lots left to learn (though in honesty my learning journey is still at its start), but I look back on that session because it reminds me of the kind of photographer I aspire to be and the kind of family portraits I want to be able to capture: fun, honest and emotional. At that time I wrote about how much awe I had of S for fight with her cancer. For awhile after this session we thought she beat it. Alas, we were not so lucky. She fought so hard,[…]See more from “Belmont Family Portraits: Sweet and bitter”

Have you had anyone walk into your life, that you pair up with so well, that the idea of them not being there starts feeling weird? That’s a bit how I feel about these guys. We met through our youngest sons’ pre-school, only to discover we are neighbors. We each have two pairs of boys, same ages. Our kids get along well (they’re kind of each other’s BFFs), and my husband and I get along really with their parents. They’re great cooks, have an awesome taste in wine (let’s be clear — I’m talking about the parents here) and sense of humor. Hanging out with them has been some of the best way to spend week-end evenings. Our oldest sons[…]See more from “Belmont Family Photographer: A bit of personality”
