Bay Area Family Photographer: All grown up

Last year, A asked me if I’d be interested in photographing her family. They hadn’t had family portraits done in quite a while. You see: they’re all grown up, and the last time she remembered taking a family photo was in a studio 25 years ago! Why in the world would I ever say “No!”? I love working with adults: they make me work my creative brain harder, and if you haven’t stood for a photo with your mom for as long as that, it’s certainly time to make up for it. I had such a fun time with A and her family. Just because you’re not three anymore doesn’t mean that photos won’t be fun, or that you won’t[…]See more from “Bay Area Family Photographer: All grown up”

Menlo Park Family Photography: We gotta run for it

M, A and their girls were the last session of the day for my mini Menlo Park family photography sessions last fall. I had it all worked out in my head, and I had the perfect silhouette image in my head that I wanted to capture with them. We started off at the base of the hill photographing for the gorgeous back-lit scenery, taking some adorable portraits for big sister R and little E. I loved even how the sun lowered behind the bush so it poked out just perfectly some some shots of mom and dad. I worked as quickly as I could, keeping a really close eye on the sun the whole time. I really wanted to grab[…]See more from “Menlo Park Family Photography: We gotta run for it”

Menlo Park Family Photographer: Bad jokes

I really, really thought I would have finished posting all my family photo sessions of 2015 before the turn of the new year. Alas, didn’t happen. But… on the bonus side, I really can’t think of a better way to kick off posts in 2016 than this family photo session in Menlo Park. This session was 200% a blast! Three boys, light saber fights, and bad jokes. I laughed a good way through it, at least. Three boys! I am barely hanging on with two, so these guys have my admiration right there. They’re all a little older since the last time we hung out, and even funner to be around. Being in an open park area certainly helped, because[…]See more from “Menlo Park Family Photographer: Bad jokes”

Menlo Park Family Portraits: Brotherly love

You know what question I ask myself often as a parent: do my children get along? I have friends that have young children that are just so smitten with one another. So …. there for each other. My boys aren’t like that. They get along as often as they don’t. They play along nicely to the same degree as they can push each other’s buttons. It makes me wonder if they would chose one another if my husband and I were not there to enforce their bond. I’d like to think “Yes”, but the only relationship I can draw from is that with my sister. Like my sons we got along as well as the days that we didn’t. Now[…]See more from “Menlo Park Family Portraits: Brotherly love”

Hopefully your head is not spinning from the bouncing around from session locations yet. There is a reason I’m doing this. It is purposeful: in big part not to bore you with the same location a whole bunch in a row. This post wraps up my Menlo Park mini sessions at El Palo Alto Park. It was an awesome one that I’ve been waiting at the edge of patience to share with you. It’s finally time! It feels like 2014 has been a year of twins for me. I don’t know how it happened, but I’ll take it! I got to witness the birth of twins, photograph their newborn session, then two sets of twin siblings over summer for There[…]See more from “Menlo Park Mini Session Photographer: Double the awesome”
