Once a year a group of my friends gathers up for a week-end away. A girls week-end. I look forward to this time every year. I love my boys at home, but I also love the chance to be an adult, that doesn’t constantly nag the short person next to me to stop annoying his brother. We’re a mix of professions, ages, religions and political views that respect and support each other. Our group has known each other for about 8 years now? Wow! Wanna know what an afternoon week-end at my house looks like? Well, two boys + one kitty = this!!! We let our kids jump off our couch. It was a battle we fought and lost. After awhile, we just gave in and moved the coffee table out of the way. I bring a crash pad out and they boys go to town. When you see faces like this though, can you really be mad? Don’t worry though — they only jump on our furniture at home. So if you invite us over, I promise they’ll behave… and stay off your couch. Bay Area Photographer: May In My Corner of the World

May for us had two major highlights: 1) Easter; 2) Zoe. Don’t scratch your head for too long. Yep, Easter really WAS in May for our family. Coming from Bulgaria, which is primarily Christian Orthodox, we celebrate on the Eastern Orthodox calendar. Usually Orthodox Easter is about 2 weeks behind Western-calendar Easter, but since it’s determined by the moon, we got almost a whole month of separation this time around. What this means to me? 1) Egg dye is a heck of a lot cheaper, and we can always take advantage of Easter stuff going on sale. My little man spent his first night in a big boy bed last night. We’d been talking about it, but the only person resistant to this change in our home has been me. Little dude never made any whole-hearted attempts to escape his enclosure, so I saw little impetus to make a transition. Plus it let my heart hang on to my last “baby”. Yes, I know I’m not a mama to babies any more, and while there are benefits to this (Why hello, sleep! Bay Area Photographer: March In My Corner of the World

Our boys don’t get their hair cut too frequently. My husband rocks the bald head (as you’ve noticed), yet he’s surprisingly attached to our childrens’ locks. G normally sports a “boy surfer” Do, but it was starting to get a bit unruly. S2, in turn, had a whole mop thing going on, so it was time. I like the short cuts for each of them, but Dad is not a fan, so we kind of compromised: G got a trim and S2 got a full big-boy hair-cut.
