Bay Area Photographer: August In My Corner of the World

Sssh! Don’t tell my boys, but around our house they think that popcorn is a special treat, and watching TV while eating popcorn is an exclusive event. No, we’re not tyrants with the snacks, but cleaning popcorn in between couch cushions isn’t that thrilling, so there you have it.
The boys settled in for some nightly after-dinner Netflix, and I snapped away. More ‘little moments’ around our home.

Redwood Shores, CA Child & Family Photographer: Bugs, Bubbles, Balls & Books

I have been so lucky to be part of documenting this family’s history over the past two years. I’ve photographed little Q since he was an itty, bitty infant. We’ve seen each other every 3 months, and watching him grow and turn into a little boy has been bitter-sweet.

Like a lot of little kiddos, he’s into bugs, bubbles, balls and books. As we navigated through Shorebird Park we stopped to observe a trail of ants. Q picked some to go, and we spent quite a bit of time as he let his little friends crawl over him.

Stay adorable, little man. I look forward to seeing you again next year!

Belmont, CA Child, Maternity & Family Photographer: Endless twirling

It’s been a little while since I’ve seen these guys. Little O is so much bigger, and now he’s going to be a big brother.

I always have a lot of fun photographing these guys. They have a great sense of humor and are up for anything. I love working with clients that come to me with silly ideas and we work to make it happen. Alas, not so silly this time around, but none-the-less a portrait session with a lot of energy. O was illustrating this, this time around by endless twirling. Silly boy!

San Mateo, CA Child & Family Photographer: After naps

Sometimes the best time for photography just isn’t the best time for kids. Family commitments, naps, and early bed-times don’t always work with the ideal sunlight hours. Why not ideal? Well, the sun is too bright, often over-head, presenting nice, dark raccoon circles (and other crazy shadows)and squinty eyes… that are really only attractive to raccoons. So what do we do? Those are the days I love to meet with families at their home, and generally hang out indoors. If not at home, under a big wide over-hang, or a place with good, even of shade that gives us lots of room to play.

G and family did just that. We met at College of San Mateo on a week-end afternoon right after nap-time. It was too bright to be outside of the shade, but we had a wonderful time! It’s been a while since I’ve seen these guys. K and R have gotten so big! They ran, they wrestled and gave their mom a whole lot of hugs. Perfect for a summer day!

Bay Area Photographer: July In My Corner of the World

Once a year a group of my friends gathers up for a week-end away. A girls week-end. I look forward to this time every year. I love my boys at home, but I also love the chance to be an adult, that doesn’t constantly nag the short person next to me to stop annoying his brother.

We’re a mix of professions, ages, religions and political views that respect and support each other. Our group has known each other for about 8 years now? Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever really counted before. Yet, still I continue to learn new things about my friends in ways to make me appreciate them more and more.

So here’s a peak at our girls’ week-end away. You’ve seen many of these faces before. Two from our group couldn’t make it, but don’t worry — we made sure to Skype them in πŸ™‚
In years past we’ve gone to Napa, but this was our first adventure south to Santa Cruz. It was wonderful! I got to indulge in some delicious food (btw, Kelly’s French Bakery has THE most amazing ham and cheese croissants I have ever eaten), hang at the beach, drink some wine, visit a sock store and do a bit of shopping.

I can’t wait for next year!
