Bay Area, CA Photographer: Tattoo

My friend A is an incredibly strong woman. Each hour I spend with her, I’m reminded of the many aspects of her personality that make her the complex and amazing person that she is. I admire her journey of self discovery, and through her I get to learn a little bit more about me.

Anchors have a special meaning to A. She’d been talking about getting an anchor tattoo for awhile. I told her that should she ever do it, I wanted to come with her and photograph her experience. So imagine my excitement when she told me she made her appointment.

I won’t lie, watching A have her tattoo done, makes me feel ready to finish mine. Who knows… if you’re lucky, you might get to see it done 🙂

Foster City, CA Newborn Photographer: Bright eyes

Oh, how much I love newborn sessions! I think the older my boys get, the more I relish being allowed to sneak back into those early moments of parenting when everything is so new, and exciting… and exhausting 🙂 These little girls and guys are make even the burliest daddy melt.

I really enjoy black and white photography. But once I walked into D & H’s home, and saw the incredible colors throughout their space, I just couldn’t bring myself up to loose out on the vibrancy, joy and airy-ness of the images we captured that day.

Little S got pretty hungry in the middle of our session and her daddy brought her to the corner of their bed for some lunch. While I LOVE photographing moms nursing (don’t fret that I don’t share those with you: you can understand why those images are private to my moms), I also really cherish the tender moments of daddy cuddling their little one while they suck down a bottle. H and S were no different. Look how his face glows looking at his little girl. Those are not just tired, teary eyes.

Little S has an auntie that is SO talented at crocheting. Check out this adorable dress, hat and booties she made. And these were just a few of the items waiting in this little S’ closet. Unfortunately this little lady had about enough of me, so we didn’t get the photograph her in her fancy duds. She napped, and showed me her amazing big, bright eyes, but at the end of the day she was ready to be done. Next time, maybe.

Bay Area Photographer: June In My Corner of the World

Wanna know what an afternoon week-end at my house looks like? Well, two boys + one kitty = this!!!

We let our kids jump off our couch. It was a battle we fought and lost. After awhile, we just gave in and moved the coffee table out of the way. I bring a crash pad out and they boys go to town. When you see faces like this though, can you really be mad? Don’t worry though — they only jump on our furniture at home. So if you invite us over, I promise they’ll behave… and stay off your couch.

Amazon these days ships items with air pillows. My husband has convinced the boys to pop them by sitting on them. It’s a win when they hear a nice popping sound.

And then there’s Zoe. She’s sweet, and loving, and totally a little hunter. I find her dragging all sorts of stuff around the house: socks… towels. Here she is attacking one of stuffed toy ducks… and waiting for some toes to walk up the stairs.

Oakland, CA Newbown Photographer: Don’t worry about a thing…

Hearing an (almost) three year old voice sing some Bob Marley to her little brother to calm him down has got to be one of the most heart-warming things ever. This little man is one lucky, lucky little dude to have a big sis like the one he’s got.

Little A was the last newborn I photographed just a week right before I went into labor with our littlest dude. Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph with this family almost every year. I say, almost, because things were so busy last year there was just no way to make it happen. I am, however, super, excited, to have been invited back to see them again and document another wonderful addition to their family: little R.

Thank you for another fun time!

Gilroy, CA Newborn Photographer: The littlest addition

L and T are meant to be parents. They’re just so darn good at it. I have ardent respect for the way that they raise their kids and the awesome people those kids are becoming.

I’ll admit, there are many days when I feel like raising two is me just treading water. I marvel at them for taking on four. Big sister J though is being amazing, and the way that she holds her little sis and comforts her: it’s just a joy to watch. I’m already feeling J might have some secrets to share with ME.

Thank you guys for inviting me to photograph your newest arrival.
